DR Congo, a stolen future for the children of Kivu amid war, hunger, and trauma

Reborn from War: The Uncertain Future of Children in South Kivu and North Kivu in the DRCongo.

The children of South Kivu and North Kivu have forgotten what it means to live in peace and security, since the beginning of the war waged by the M23 / AFC and the FARDC. This devastating situation has plunged the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo into a cycle of violence and instability that has lasted for too long. The consequences of this conflict are catastrophic, leaving indelible marks on the daily lives of children and families. Hunger and assassinations are tragic realities of this war. Many families find themselves without resources, unable to provide for the basic needs of their children. Food security has become an inaccessible luxury, and many children suffer from

malnutrition. These difficult conditions affect not only their physical health but also their emotional and psychological development. Children, instead of playing and learning, live in constant fear of violence and forced displacement.
The psychological traumas caused by the war are profound. Children witness unimaginable scenes of violence, lose loved ones, and are forced to flee their homes. This instability creates an environment where children’s resilience is severely tested. They carry the weight of the war on their shoulders, often without the opportunity to free themselves from it.
The future of these young people is uncertain, and their education is compromised, preventing them from dreaming of a better future in their own country.

wonders about the future of these children.
What will become of them if they continue to live in such a hostile environment?
How can they hope to rebuild their lives and contribute to society if their basic needs are not met?
The question of their education is crucial. Without access to quality education, these children risk becoming disillusioned adults, unable to participate in the development of their country.
It is important that the national and international community mobilizes to support the children of South Kivu and North Kivu.
Concrete actions are needed to provide them with humanitarian aid, access to education, and psychological support. Together, we must work to rebuild their future and restore peace in this hard-hit region.
Children deserve to regain hope, joy, and security, and it is our responsibility to help them achieve this goal.
