Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni spoke with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on the diplomatic track around the U.S.–Iran ceasefire. According to Pakistan’s prime minister office, Meloni praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and welcomed its decision to host upcoming negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Appreciating Pakistan’s successful diplomatic efforts to restore the US-Iran ceasefire and negotiations, Prime Minister Meloni congratulated the Prime Minister on hosting the upcoming US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad.
Reiterating Pakistan’s sincere desire for peace and stability in the region, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the joint statement issued by key European and international leaders, including Prime Minister Meloni, in support of Pakistan’s peace efforts.
The two leaders also expressed their grave concern over the ongoing war in Lebanon and agreed on the need for coordinated international efforts to prevent further escalation.
