Pakistan has strongly condemned the Indian attacks as an “act of war,” asserting that India targeted residential areas and mosques, and that at least eight people were killed and more than 46 injured in the Indian strikes, described as “innocent and unarmed people.”

Pakistani military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that his country had responded by shooting down three Rafale fighter jets, one Su-30, and one MiG-29 fighter belonging to the Indian Air Force while they were in Pakistani airspace. He further claimed that no Pakistani fighters were injured in the attacks, while five Indian fighters were reportedly killed.

India stated that its attack on Pakistan targeted the bases of “Islamic terrorists” in what it called “Operation Sindoor,” with missile raids on what it claimed were terrorist infrastructure sites. Pakistan, however, reiterates that civilian sites were hit. Reports available confirm that at least eight civilians were killed and another 46 were injured in the Indian attack in the Punjab and Pakistan-administered Kashmir provinces.
India’s missile strikes against Pakistan on Tuesday, May 6th, have provoked reactions from numerous countries and the United Nations.
President Donald Trump called India’s attack on Pakistan “disgraceful,” and the US State Department announced that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already spoken with the national security advisors of India and
Pakistan, urging them to keep communication channels open, avoid escalating tensions, and reach a peaceful resolution.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres also expressed concern over the attack, calling for maximum military restraint from both India and Pakistan.
Similarly, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, told the state news agency (WAM) that a further escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan threatens regional and international peace. Condemnations of the military escalation and calls for moderation have also come from China and Japan, which fear a destabilization of the region.
Meanwhile, both countries have expelled their respective diplomatic representatives.
